Volunteers

Helping Others
Our volunteers embody the mission and values of Laguna Niguel Connectors. They possess a “pay it forward” mentality — freely giving of their time and energy to help others and not expecting something in return. They often demonstrate networking, leadership, or communication skills in connecting people. Below are some of our featured volunteers.
Louise Brandy

Louise Brandy

Louise Brandy is a 15 year IT executive who specializes in aligning technology initiatives with the business strategy to enable growth. She has both domestic and international experience in full Application Lifecycle Management, from vision, scope, design, selection, development to deployment, maintenance and ongoing support. Louise has proven collaboration with executive leadership as a trusted advisor implementing solutions with tangible business value.

I love networking and the quality and caliber of connections with LNC is very high due to the leadership of the founders, Randy, Greg and Dipak. They have created a truly collaborative group who believes in ‘Paying it Forward’.

Chris Marocchi

Chris Marocchi

Chris Marocchiis an 18+ year marketing executive who specializes in combining marketing strategy with robust business processes that deliver both profitable results and cost savings through enhanced process efficiencies. He has led teams in brand development, marketing communications, strategic planning and product development across a variety of industries, including Consumer Packaged Goods, Industrial Manufacturing, Commercial Real Estate and Retail Franchising. Chris has a proven record as a leader who will create value and growth for an organization.

While recently in career transition, I chose to become a volunteer with Laguna Niguel Connectors as a Group Facilitator. This volunteer opportunity gave me the opportunity to meet dozens of high quality networkers and to gain recognition as a leader within this great networking organization. It also provided me the opportunity to meet and offer assistance to a great number of people. Being able to work alongside other volunteers, including the founders of the group, led to my making high profile connections, including ones that were influential in my landing my current position. I would recommend volunteering for LN Connectors to anyone who takes networking seriously and who views it as both making and helping friends in the process.

I have been involved with taking companies public and have created a total market cap of greater than $750MM.  Mike introduced many new concepts and medical devices into use and worked with the first nuclear cardiology systems.

The world has changed and executives are changing jobs statistically every two years. Networking is not only necessary; it is a MUST if you want to remain relevant.

Steve Fox

Steve Fox

Steve Fox helps companies generate more qualified leads using direct response techniques such as e-mail; use targeted databases; integrate with a CRM system such as salesforce.com; and run the inside sales (call center) team. By widening the sales funnel, Steve helps grow revenues and profits. Steve hires, develops, mentors, motivates, and retains a staff that delivers above goal results.

Networking is a big deal and the numbers prove it. In 2011 the WSJ reported that 94 percent of successful job seekers claimed some type of networking had made all the difference for them.

I have been enjoying every opportunity to meet people of high caliber who are willing to help others genuinely by being involved with LNC as a volunteer since Day 1 of the group’s formation. I believe the quality of members has been very high because of the founders’ sincere desire to help others.

He has worked for National Security Agency (NSA), Department of Defense (DOD), AST Computer, Unisys Corporation, and most recently L-3 Communications. During the Dot Com era he owned a website design and hosting company (TDM Associates). For the last five years Ted has been teaching LinkedIn for the “Career Coaching & Counseling” Ministry at Saddleback Church, as well as a series of LinkedIn classes at universities, colleges, companies, and recruiting firms in the Orange County area. Ted brings a unique style of passion, humor and anecdotal experiences to his presentation of this great on-line networking tool.

No matter what phase of your career you’re in, networking is an essential part of career management. Networking isn’t something you start when you’re looking for work; you should be networking constantly throughout your career. Every time you run into someone you know, or meet someone new, you’re networking. Are you taking advantage of these opportunities? My favorite saying in my LinkedIn Classes: Connections are good, but Relationships are Gold. Building relationships and a strong network is key to your successful career.

He manages a LinkedIn group called “We Are Orange County!” and it currently has over 6800 members.

I never network for a deal instead I network to meet people and hopefully built long term relationships. I believe in paying it forward and that networking is the only job that will be constant throughout my whole life.

Rob Gregg

Rob Gregg

Rob Gregg is an 12+ year sales executive who specializes in Oracle E-Business Suite solution sales and consulting, delivering professional and managed services within the Fortune 500. Being a relationship builder and giver at the core, he has been a volunteer facilitator with LNC since 2009. In that time he has enjoyed giving back to his community and “connecting” others who are either in career transition or helping to foster B2B relationships. Rob has carried this “pay it forward” philosophy into other board member associations he leads locally.

We all have it within us. Giving back is really putting the interests of others before your own. Networking has been vital for me in forging new business relationships, enhancing my personal brand, and helping my community one transition at a time. My only regret, is that I wish I could have started years before. I encourage our future generations to start networking tomorrow and build up their confidence so they can hit the ground running in their career.

Job seekers struggle to answer a very basic question: “What are you looking for?” Sometimes they don’t know the answer. Sometimes they answer with way too much information.  And sometimes they are incredibly vague with hopes that they’ll be considered for a lot of different jobs. But the truth is that social networking for a new job requires specifics. Details delivered with confidence. Because if you don’t know what you are looking for, how will you ever find it?  And how will others be ready and able to help you if they don’t know either? Watch this video for more help on how to answer this question.
